Teal’s Pure Pork Sausage

Teal’s Pure Pork Sausage has been a family owned and operated business since 1915. We are a provincially licensed butcher shop located on our farm in the quaint village of Springvale. As the name suggests, we are best known for our old-fashioned, farmer’s style sausage. Our sausage is still made using the original 1915 recipe. To this day it remains filler and artificial preservative free. We use the entire pig, not just the trim, and make sausage fresh each week. we source all of our pigs locally, reducing transport stress on the animals and ensuring that we get the high quality of animal that we are looking for. Today our business has expanded to include a full line of savoury port products.

We are also very proud to be able to offer our family’s own homegrown beef. Anna’s mother (with some help from Anna and her sister) have been raising quality purebred Limousin beef cattle for the past 15 years. The Limousin breed is known world-wide for producing high-quality, lean beef. Our cattle are pasture raised and grain finished using a balanced diet of farm-grown grains and hays. No hormones are used and cattle are born, raised and finished on the family farm. Many of the animals raised are sold as replacement breeding stock, the remainder are finished for beef. We take great pride in now being able to see (and taste), first-hand, the result of years of careful breeding for the best carcass traits, as well as meticulous attention to the comfort and health of our cows. Our beef is dry aged a minimum of 14 days and all the animals used are under 18 months of age. These factors help ensure a tender and enjoyable eating experience.

At Teal’s we are well aware that we are feeding both our neighbours and our own family. Our solid roots in the farming community allow us to share our knowledge about how food is grown/raised with our urban customers who are curious about where their food comes from. Producing safe, high quality and delicious meats is more than just our livelihood, it is our passion too!
